Climate Change: Manageable Problem, or Slow Death of the Planet? European Union Role and Actions until 2050-The Impact on Greece (2018) (Independently Published/Amazon KDP-Available through Amazon)
Climate change has ceased for a long time to be regarded as simply a phenomenon and has been converted to a direct threat for every form of life on our planet. Its confrontation attempts by the European Union and the international community in general are obvious, but is it now time for a more systematic intensification?
Through the current book, the author is asked to answer whether and to what extend the climate change issue is now manageable. The causes and consequences are being presented, the role of the European Union is being analyzed, all the sectors affected directly, or indirectly are being examined and an extensive reference to the impact on the already tortured by the economic crisis Greece is being conducted.
The author is optimistic that the thorough study he has conducted, the valid sources on which he has been based and the analytical tables quoted can offer the reader, on the one hand, the chance for a more constructive depth and on the other hand the basis for extracting his own personal conclusions, regarding the planet’s future.
The book consists of the introduction and four more chapters. In Chapter 1, with the title “Causes and Consequences of Climate Change and the Necessity for Immediate Measures”, an extensive and in-depth analysis of the phenomenon of climate change takes place, whilst there are also references regarding the impact on Greece.
The tables presented refer to the possible alterations of the climate indicators in the context of four main categories of areas (“Urban”, “Tourist”, “Rural” and “National Parks”) and attempt to shed light on the problems for which Greece must be absolutely prepared by 2050.
In Chapter 2, “EU Thoughts and Strategies for Climate Change Confrontation: From 2020 to 2050” appear. The entire EU design spectrum is being examined with a systematic and simplified way and the most important components that may lead to the confrontation of the phenomenon are being underlined.
In Chapter 3, “The Precise Role of the Foremost EU Institutions and Bodies to Combat Climate Change” is being mentioned. More specifically, there is a detailed analysis of the responsibilities of the European Parliament, the Council of the EU, the European Commission, the European Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions, the European Environment Agency and the Clean Sky 2 Joint Undertaking.
Finally, Chapter 4 is titled “Concluding Remarks: Can Our Planet Still Hope?”. The most important conclusions are being drawn, the current degree of success is being estimates and the future prospects are being examined.
