European Unification [2nd Edition-Special Edition for Universities (in Greek)] Athens: Historical Quest (2014)

This book is the special edition for Universities. It was taught for 8 consecutive years at the Athens University of Economics and Business and the Technological Educational Institute of Kalamata. It stopped being taught at the end of the spring semester of the academic year 2021-22 due to the fact that the cooperation between Dr. Ioannis Vasileiou and the publishing house Historical Quest has ceased. Also, it is no longer available in the market due to the fact that the cooperation between Dr. Ioannis Vasileiou and the publishing house Historical Quest has ceased. This book refers to the Regional Policy and Cohesion Policy of the European Union, the political and economic situation of the European Union, the NSRF and the Enlargements. Through this book, Ioannis Vasileiou attempts, in a simple way, to enable students to understand some of the fundamental economic and political issues and concepts of the Regional Policy of the European Union, which is considered to be one of the most important, with a huge impact on all member states without exception. Issues, such as institutional capacity, the absorption capacity of European Union funds, the proper functioning of the Structural Funds and the constructive cooperation of regions and countries with the European Union are key components towards the desirable economic convergence. This book covers a wide range of subjects regarding a) the main institutions, bodies, committees and programmes that determine the structure and functions of the Regional Policy and Cohesion Policy, b) the reforms of 1988 and the management framework from the First Cycle (CSF) until nowadays and c) the targets and prospects towards 2020. The importance of the Regional Policy of the European Union is such that can determine, to a large extent, the present and future of the Union.
